“Please don’t h:it me… I’m already in pain!” the pregnant maid cried out. — Then a billionaire did this…

It was a night of absolute luxury. A mansion filled with the wealthy. Champagne and dazzling lights. And there was Sofía—seven months pregnant, working as a waitress.

She had been on her feet for 12 hours. Her legs were buckling. The baby was kicking hard. But she desperately needed the money. “Just a little longer,” she told herself.

She approached a group of guests with a loaded tray. Her hands trembled. Everything happened as if in slow motion.

CRASH!

The glasses shattered on the floor. A woman’s expensive dress ended up drenched in wine. It was Hunter Cross’s girlfriend—the queen of the party.
“You idiot! Do you have any idea what this is worth?” she shrieked, raising her hand.

Sofía shielded her belly. “Please… don’t hit me. I’m already in pain.”

A deathly silence fell over the room. The woman smiled wickedly. “You should be kicked out onto the street. You’re useless.”

Sofía felt like her world was collapsing. She began to cry. But right then… a deep voice cut through the air.
“That’s enough.”

Everyone turned. It was Hunter Cross. The most powerful tycoon in the city—the kind of man who could ruin lives with a single gesture. He walked toward Sofía with a determined stride.

Nadie se atrevía a respirar.

What he did next left everyone frozen. His girlfriend turned pale. The guests couldn’t believe their eyes. And as for Sofía… her life took a complete turn that night.
But Hunter Cross’s reaction was not what anyone expected. Not even Sofía.

Hunter Cross stopped in front of Sofía.

For a split second, she braced herself—certain he was about to explode like the rest of them.

Instead, he did something no one expected.

He took off his tailored suit jacket… and draped it gently over her trembling shoulders.

Gasps rippled through the room.

“You’re bleeding,” he said quietly, his sharp eyes noticing the way Sofía’s hand pressed against her side. “Someone call a doctor. Now.”

His girlfriend stared at him, stunned. “Hunter, are you serious? She ruined my—”

He raised one finger.

Silence.

“I don’t care about your dress,” he said coldly. “I care about a pregnant woman being threatened in my house.”

The room froze. No one dared move.

Hunter turned to Sofía, lowering his voice. “How long have you been working tonight?”

“T-twelve hours,” she whispered. “I needed the money for the baby.”

His jaw tightened.

“And who made you work this long?” he asked.

The manager stepped forward, sweating. “Sir, she insisted—”

Hunter’s gaze snapped to him like a blade. “You forced a seven-month pregnant woman to carry trays at a party where people drink until they forget their names?”

The manager’s mouth opened. No sound came out.

Hunter turned back to Sofía. “You’re not fired,” he said firmly. “You’re done for the night. And you’re not going home alone.”

His girlfriend finally snapped. “Hunter! Are you choosing her over me?”

He looked at her—really looked.

“For the first time tonight,” he said, “yes.”

The woman’s face drained of color.

Hunter signaled his head of security. “Escort her out.”

“What? You can’t—this is my—”

“Was,” Hunter corrected. “Your invitation is revoked.”

She was led away screaming, heels echoing across marble floors.

Hunter then knelt—knelt—in front of Sofía, eye level with her swollen belly.

“When was your last doctor’s appointment?” he asked gently.

Sofía broke down completely. “I… I couldn’t afford one.”

Something changed in his eyes.

Later that night, Sofía was taken to a private hospital. The best doctors. The best care. Her baby was safe—but exhausted. Just like her.

The next morning, Hunter Cross visited her room.

Not as a billionaire.

Not as a tycoon.

But as a man carrying guilt.

“I grew up watching my mother clean houses while pregnant,” he said quietly. “People like us pretended she was invisible.”

He placed an envelope on her bedside table.

Inside was a contract—for a paid position at his foundation. Medical coverage. Housing assistance. And education support until her child turned eighteen.

Tears streamed down Sofía’s face.

“Why?” she whispered.

Hunter looked at her belly. Then back at her.

“Because no one protected my mother,” he said. “And someone should have.”

That night didn’t just change Sofía’s life.

It changed his.

And months later, when a baby boy was born… Hunter Cross was waiting outside the delivery room.
